Simply wonderful: From Cologne to the Ahr and take a few Eifel hills with you. It goes directly to Dernau via Esch with a magnificent descent. Then there are three main climbs:

• Up to Ramersbach, 322 m elevation gain over 7.3 km, mountain category 2. As far as I know, there is nothing more in the whole Eifel.
• Steinerberg aka Alpe d'Huez of the Eifel, mountain category 3 (257 m elevation gain over 3.94 km) Magnificent, at the top you can stop at the Steinerberghaus with a magnificent view of the Hohe Acht.
• Krälingen (mountain category 3, 185 m of altitude over 3.25 km) at the end is difficult.

Then downhill to Cologne.
